“The Inspired Child of [Her] Times”: Eudora Welty as a Twentieth-Century Artist
Résumé
This essay focuses on Eudora Welty as a twentieth-century writer. The author notes that Welty wrote about her childhood as very American, very progressive and with a passion for discovery and new technology. It states that Welty got her vision as a writer from her photography. The influence of Welty's critical awareness, commitment to writing of fiction with exhilarating challenges and constant questioning and passion for all that concerned her times, on her narrative strategies is explored.
